Four Cycles of the “Advanced Lean Six Sigma” Course Successfully Completed for Industry Representatives within the Erasmus+ DERHE Project



The University of Banja Luka successfully implemented four cycles of the “Advanced Lean Six Sigma” course from April to June 2026, aimed at the professional development of employees from the industry sector. The courses were attended by employees of the companies “EL PROMET” Laktaši, “LANACO” Banja Luka, “KOLEKTOR CCL” (Laktaši, Srbac and Prijedor) “MAHLE Electric Drives Bosnia” Laktaši, “TIKT Manufaktura” Gradiška, “PMP Jelšingrad-FMG” Gradiška, and “PMP Drive Systems” Laktaši.

Upon completion of the training, 34 participants received certificates confirming the successful completion of the course. The programme was delivered over 10 days (45 hours) through a blended learning model, consisting of five days of online lectures and five days of practical training at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka and in the participating companies.

The course lecturers were Prof. dr Zorana Tanasić, Prof. dr Goran Janjić, and MSc Maja Vuković from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Banja Luka. Through theoretical lectures, practical examples, serious games, and case study activities, they provided participants with modern knowledge and practical experience in the field of Lean Six Sigma methodology.

The course was designed with the aim of developing competencies for the application of Lean Six Sigma methodology in improving business processes, products, and services through waste reduction, increased efficiency, and the creation of additional value for customers. The programme included the application of the DMAIC methodology, statistical tools for process analysis, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), identification of waste and bottlenecks, root cause analysis using the 8D method, as well as the development and implementation of process improvement measures.

Through case studies and solving specific tasks in companies, participants acquired knowledge and skills for independently managing process improvement projects and effective teamwork. By implementing this programme, the University of Banja Luka continues to strengthen cooperation with industry and contributes to the development of professional competencies necessary for improving the competitiveness of domestic companies.
