At the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka, three cycles of the “LEAN Fundamental Course” were successfully implemented within the framework of the Erasmus+ DERHE project. The courses were attended by fourth-year students of the Manufacturing Engineering and Mechatronics study programmes, as well as students of the Master’s programme in Industrial Engineering. The training was conducted from March to May 2026, and upon completion, students received certificates confirming the successful completion of the course.

The course lecturers were Prof. dr Zorana Tanasić, Prof. dr Goran Janjić, and MSc Maja Vuković from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Banja Luka. Through interactive lectures, practical examples, serious games, and case studies, they introduced students to the fundamental principles and tools of the LEAN philosophy.

The LEAN Fundamental Course was designed to provide students with an understanding of LEAN principles and to equip them with the knowledge and skills required for the application of basic LEAN methods and tools in business process improvement. Through innovative learning approaches, students developed competencies for process analysis, identification of waste, and application of LEAN tools aimed at increasing efficiency and creating greater value for customers.

By implementing these courses, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka continues its activities within the Erasmus+ DERHE project, contributing to the improvement of higher education quality and the development of future engineers’ competencies in accordance with the needs of modern industry and the labour market.
